I have this sick bastard printer… and as you could image i have always used with windows but it’s not the best printer on the world…
i have read a *lots* of stuff on openprinting website… and with the default fucking driver i got always a hp super fanstatic (of course it isn’t ) photosmart freezed ...
so i had taken a decision some days ago… i should buy another printer….
but … this was a failure
so i tried to change the driver …. without faith and i have choosen the photostupid c8100
and tadaaa no freeze… -.-” so i thought it was the driver…. but after some time (2 hours lol )i get the freeze… wthell….
so then i have read this
and i have modify the URI in this way:
FROM
hp:/usb/photosmart_7700_series?serial=MY396220QQK6
TO
usb://hp/photosmart%207700%20series?serial=MY396220QQK6
**NOTE %20 means——>”_”
using the system settings…you can see here

now it seems it works fine….
if the fucking module to control for your printer doesn’t work :
add the printer by browsing this
localhost:631
then add the print .
stop cups with this :
sudo /etc/init.d/cups stop
so now edit the configuration file
locate cups | grep conf
should show :
/etc/cups/printers.conf
so
kdesudo kate /etc/cups/printers.conf
now replace like said before the correct string…
usb://hp/photosmart%207700%20series?serial=MY396220QQK6
now set this printer like default with this :
lpoptions -d “hp_photosmart_7700_series”
note that name contains space but they are replaced by _ underscore …. wtf i really hate these stupid problems
