This fucking stringi does’t work ? and the error is this?
Strigi service failed to initialize, most likely due to an installation problem
normal user should use this command
32bit
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so /usr/lib/libjvm.so
64bit
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/lib/amd64/server/libjvm.so /usr/lib/libjvm.so
who uses openjdk (i never used.)
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/lib/amd64/server/libjvm.so /usr/lib/libjvm.so
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so /usr/lib/libjvm.so

Thanks, that fixed it. I was having this problem on the full 9.10 Kubuntu release. I didn’t know if I’d messed things up by disabling Strigi on 9.04 and using Google Desktop Search instead.
I’d add the advice that you need to use
java -version
to see which type of Java you are using.
