Downgrade kde , kubuntu

A lots of times i have seen people with problems upgrading kde and so they wanted downgrade their kde installation.

in few steps we should :

  • remove the repository added to your repository list
  • remove all kde packages
  • reinstall kde

so just open your kpackagekit  and remove the repository or edit your file

kdesudo kate /etc/apt/sources.list

now this is for natty that is 11.04 if you don’t know which version you have just type this on konsole

echo $(lsb_release -cs)

and so replace the name you got where you find natty …

# See http://help.ubuntu.com/community/UpgradeNotes for how to upgrade to

now remove every packages of kde, you can get a list of possible packages here and so reinstall kde even with the list you found in the same link.. instead of

sudo apt-get install --reinstall bla bla

you have to use :

to remove :

sudo apt-get remove --purge  bbla bla bla

to install :

sudo apt-get install  bla bla bla

so now you have downgraded your kde🙂  (-..- when i was a totally nob i have reinstalled a lots of times… what a waste of time …  -..-‘ )
