record microphone with vlc from shell


detect your hardware

cat /proc/asound/pcm

i get

00-00: ALC269VC Analog : ALC269VC Analog : playback 1 : capture 1
01-00: HDMI 0 : HDMI 0 : playback 1
02-00: USB Audio : USB Audio : capture 1
recording from standard default mic

cd  /tmp ; cvlc  alsa://hw:0,0 --sout "#transcode{acodec=mp3,ab=128,channels=2, samplerate=44100}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=mp3,dst=test.mp3}}}"

 

recording from USB CARD, number can change so do cat /proc/asound/pcm i got 2 so i use alsa://hw:2,0

 

cd /tmp ; cvlc  alsa://hw:2,0 --sout "#transcode{acodec=mp3,ab=128,channels=2, samplerate=44100}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=mp3,dst=test.mp3}}}"
