download the latest version so … https://download.owncloud.org/community/owncloud-8.0.2.tar.bz2

now see that there is the fucking .htaccess file ? you need to copy that file where you have the owncloud in my raspi here /var/www/owncloud and overwrite the your .htaccess file

then you can update normally owncloud from the browser ….

  1. Turns out it’s all, and only, because the version number in the .htaccess file is wrong. Use nano, or whatever, to change it to “8.0.0.2”, and you’re good to go.
